My kids say some funny stuff...

As my little one runs out of the doctors office he yells...

"I am a running midget!"

My 8 and 7 year olds had the conversation the other day:

A: "Can we get me a boy ring?" (This is because he bought me a ring in the Santa shop at school and has been asking to wear it.)
K: "Maybe when you get married your wife can give you a ring."

K: "Well that's if you get married."
A: "Hey!" ( You would think this is because he doesn't want to ever get married because at 7 girls are supposed to have cooties. But no.)

K: "What some people don't want to get married and they die alone!" (Geez kid)
A: "But I'm cute."

LIfe and Stuff

  • Its finally getting cold.
  • I cant decide if I am happy or sad about that.
  • We put up our tree today.  I haven't really been in the Christmas spirit yet this year.  That is way off for me.  Thanksgiving and Christmas are my 2 favorite holidays.
  • Not for the giving and getting stuff or even the food.
  • I love to see my family. Some of which this is the only time I spend with them.
  • That is because that is all I can handle some of them, but I still like to catch up and learn how they are doing.
  • I usually have Christmas planned out to the T by now but I don't even know what everyone is doing yet.  So That means I cant plan when and where we will be.
  • Oh well.
  • I also haven't started my shopping.  I want to make this Christmas a small one with a few gifts each. The hubby is on the other side of that.  He wants them to get most if not all of their list. (That is not going to happen).
  • Basketball games this weekend:
  • My MIL kinda pushed my buttons before the games even started. She called and asked what time they started and when I told her she asked me at least 3 times if I was sure because she found a website that listed all the games and it said it was at 11, not 2.  Oh and it was in a different town.  Sigh. I know I don't remember everything but when it comes to my kids needing to be somewhere I am pretty on top of things.
  • I keep it in my planner and on my calendar on my phone with reminders. I do that for a reason.
  • The first game was great.  Every single player on the team scored at least one point point!  It was fun to watch and the boys did really well.
  • The second game started out slow.  They were down by 9.  That is alot for 2nd graders.  They ended up coming back and it was a nail bitter.  The last 2 minutes of the game it was within 2 points or tied the whole time. The boys ended up winning by one point in the last 20 seconds of the game.
  • I made homemade chili for dinner tonight. It was good, but a little spicy for me and not quite spicy enough for the hubby.  I don't know how we manage to eat the same food each night.  Our taste are so different.
  • Oh I have been reading a book a day for the last week. I love it but now I am out of books to read. I need ideas.
  • That's it for tonight. I am going to get to go to bed early for once.

Children

  • Mine make me want to pull my hair out sometimes.
  • I had a great compliment last night. My youngest sons teacher has a daughter the same age as my oldest.  She was telling me how smart her daughter thinks my son is.
  • The only problem with that is he is failing several classes because he wont turn in his work. Including the one that her daughter is in.
  • I sat outside the school waiting for 2 of my children yesterday for an hour. Why you ask? because even though they knew they were going to be practicing late the night before and were reminded before practice they never bothered to tell me.
  • They were told next time they would be mighty embarrassed because I would go in there and drag them out by the ears if I had to.
  • I have 5 kids I don't have time to spend the evenings waiting around in a parking lot for an hour.
  • I have 2 boys that like to tell me they did their work and turned it in but for some reason they keep getting 0's for their work.
  • Yeah, I wasn't born yesterday. Maybe if it were one teacher and one paper I might believe that but I am not going to believe that about 4 different teachers about  9 different assignments.
  • They really hate when I call their teachers and figure out what is really going on.
  • I am finally going to get some answers and help for my youngest son.  It is about time and I am nervous and excited about what is going to happen next.

  • They also brighten most any day.
  • With smiles, love and laughter.
  • My youngest is almost always smiling.  He is happy just to see me after school.
  • The next one always wants a hug and to play a game.
  • The older 3 have really gotten out of the lovey stages and want to do their own thing.  When they share their stories though I can help but smile and laugh with them.
  • Last night my kids were up past their bed time finishing up their stuff.  When it became playing I went back to their room to tell them to get in bed. An hour ( maybe a little more) later I finally had to tell them to get in bed or they were grounded.  Then I had to go back and tell them to be quite only to spend another 15 mins with them talking and laughing.
  • It is fun. My children are becoming young men and sharing their stories not only as a mom but as a friend is amazing.

Blessings

I count mine.  I know how blessed I am to have the family I have.  Not just my husband and children but also the extended family, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, nieces, nephews, and friends.  Those people who do amazing things for others. Sometime just because, others because they know they need help with something.  These people bring great joy and laughter to my life. They are there when I need to talk, when I need to scream my head off about someone or something stupid, they are there to pick me up when I fall and help me find my way back.  We share a bond that cant be broken.  It amazes me how wonder and generous these people in my life are.

My cousins and I received a great blessing that came at a time that somehow we all needed. I am not sure how he knew or if he knew at all but it sure did make us all cry with gratitude and relief.  It was received from our uncle, made possible by the generosity of our mothers at a time when he needed it.  He passed it on to us and I hope to one day do the same.  Thanks Uncle Randy, Aunt Candy and Mom.  I want you to know that we know we are blessed to call you family and we are grateful for all you do and have done. I love you.

LIfe and Stuff...

  • Basketball...
  • The big ones are on the same team.  They had their first game last week. I didn't get to see it.
  • It was not a very good game though.
  • The score was like 46-3? Not sure about the other teams score though.
  • My 2 boys scored the 3 points.
  • Bad thing/ Good thing?
  • They play again tonight. I get to watch. I hope it is better.
  • The little ones played on Sat.
  • They both won their games.
  • They had pictures before the game.
  • My little one did really feel all that well. (He woke up with a tummy ache and then had a head ache.  Then he tells me he is fine but he was running a 102 fever.  I have no clue what was going on with him. He is better now though.)
  • The gym was loud.
  • All the 3rd grade games are there and most of the 2nd grade ones :\
  • I needed a nap after being there for almost 3 hours.
  • The 3rd grade game was fun to watch.  They have been working on plays and I actually saw a few.  My son did not score any points but he did make a few good plays.  A couple of steals, rebounds and really good passes.  One thing I can say about my son is he is not a ball hog. (unlike some others).
  • The 2nd grade game was fun but man it was a beating.  Some of those kids had no idea what to do. Mine included.  They are only allowed to practice one night a week and have not had time to go over all the stuff they needed to.  I was afraid he was going to get out there and never get to touch the ball. He didn't alot at first but once he got going he did get to do a few things.  Throw ins, a rebound or two.
  • I am excited because they are having so much fun with it.
  • The hubby made diner last night. It was so good!  If you have never had pineapple grilled you should try it sometime.
  • I am making a shopping list and buying only what is on this list this week.
  • Christmas is only a few weeks away and I am not in the spirit yet.
  • The tree isn't up and non of the decorations are out. I haven't even started shopping.
  • I do have list from all the kids though. Maybe I will do it all online and see what I come up with.  Who knows.
  • I do need to get my niece and nephews stuff in the mail soon if I want it there by Christmas.  Sigh. I don't want to....
